Mr Men ghten has raised the question whe- ther a barrister can be considered for this appt.
It will be sen that when this post mus con- stituted on its present basis the S.of S. laid it down that the Crown Solicitor must be a qualified solicitor of England, Scotland or Ireland. (16009/10) It happened however that ir Kemp, local barrister, was finally selected for the first appointment. But I think that now that a qualified loc 1 solicitor is availble (Mr Takeman is an 'nglish solicitor the S.of S. is estopped from putting up a barrister ugainst him, lthough the Governor in recommending
